"Track: Set..." family of actions

Section: Main

Actions of this group set various track settings, like mute, solo, pan, volume, etc. A lot of them use MIDI CC numbers to do so. MIDI learning via Actions list in Reaper 3 is explained here.

Set all FX offline for selected tracks (Cmd ID 40535)

This action bypasses all plugins on all selected tracks (puts them in Offline mode). Plugins do not use CPU in Offline mode.

Set all FX online for selected tracks (Cmd ID 40537)

This action activates all plugins on all selected tracks (puts them out of the Offline mode). Tip: Use the "toggle" variant of these two actions if you have SWS extensions installed, SWS/S&M: Toggle all FX online/offline for selected tracks

Set automatic record-arm when track selected (Cmd ID 40737)

This action sets the selected tracks to auto record arming mode, which means that tracks won't be record armed while they are not selected. When you select auto record armed tracks, they become armed and ready to record upon selecting them. This is great for situations when you need quick switching between input tracks, for example.

Set/clear all tracks automatic record-arm (Cmd ID 40740)

This action toggles between setting all tracks in the project to auto record arm mode, and disarming all tracks.

Set first selected track as last touched track (Cmd ID 40914)

In case of a multiple track selection, this action will set the topmost track as the one you last touched, even though the last track you touched is the last track you have added to your selection (and that one doesn't have to be topmost, either). This action is mostly useful for custom actions.

Set track record mode... actions (Cmd IDs 40494, 40497 to 40504, 40852, 40895, 40896)

These actions set the selected tracks to one of available recording modes. See the User Guide for more info on recording modes.

Set track record monitor... actions (Cmd IDs 40492 to 40494)

These actions set the record monitoring mode for the selected tracks to one of available monitoring modes. See the User Guide for more info on recording monitoring modes.

Set/unset track solo defeat (Cmd IDs 41197, 41198)

These actions enable or disable solo defeat of currently selected tracks. Solo Defeat can be used to ensure that a track will still be heard even when another track or track selection is soloed exclusive. Tip: You can replace the usage of these two actions with the "toggle" variant which combines them into one action, Track: Toggle track solo defeat. Set/unset actions are more appropriate for usage in custom actions, since they are absolute, whereas the "toggle" action only reverses the current state of the toggle button.

Set track colors... (Cmd ID 40357)

Shows the color selection dialog window, and paints the selected tracks with the color you pick in that dialog.

Set track colors to random colors (Cmd ID 40358)

Sets each selected track to a randomly picked color. Fun stuff.

Set track colors to one random color (Cmd ID 40360)

Sets all selected tracks to the same randomly picked color. A bit less funn than the previous action :)

Set track icon... (Cmd ID 40899)

Shows the "Load image resource" dialog and lets you browse for the track icon that's going to be displayed on the track for easy discerning of track types.

Set volume/pan/mute/solo for selected tracks/last touched track/master track/track nn (MIDI CC only)

These actions are rather self-explanatory. By using MIDI learn you can configure your controller to control these parameters for particular tracks (up to track 99), or for any selected track, or for the last touched track. MIDI learning via Actions list in Reaper 3 is explained here.

Cmd IDs which are used for these actions range from 4 to 819, but this range includes the "toggle" variants of mute/solo actions, along with FX bypass and record arm, as well.
