Bugs

(things that are pretty much wrong ex: "When disabling FX in the track window, the CPU usage meter in the FX window is not updated (freezes) to one fixed value")

  • Occasional Flam of MIDI notes at or near 01:01:00 time in MIDI clips, whether rolled out or not. If, while playing, you click one measure earlier on the timeline where glitch occured, it does not usually re-occur. Therefore, it appears this issue is not related to the midi file data itself.

Nitpicks

(things that you think should be function differently than they do. ex "The dark color of the inactive VU meters should be a gradient the same as the real active VU Meter, but of course - a dark version of it.Having everything green feels unrealistic." (nevermind it is a gradient anyway)

  • It would be nice if the state of the auto cross fade, item grouping, ripple editing, envelope point moves, grid lines, and snap options icons were remembered and recalled for subsequent projects.
  • Fade in/out graphic shouldnt be the same *

Trivial Features

(small features, ex: ""Add New Marker" right-click context menu option when you right-click on the timeline")

A dockable window with the time-line clock in it.

Requests

  • CUSTOMIZABLE KEYBOARD SHORTCUTS WITH MACROS. Similar to Logic and Nuendo but even better. Check out this freeware Locate32. It's can't-live-without-useful and sports one of the best keyboard shortcut features, e.g. several actions can be bound to a key and functioning only depending on current window/editor focus. http://www.uku.fi/~jmhuttun/english/

  • STRIP SILENCE. The FIRST thing to do after importing files. Remove silence, like in Logic and Nuendo and remove the unused space from hard drive. Running hundreds tracks is choking the hard drive and doing it manually is a waste of time.
  • the ability to record midi in loop mode, in order to modify an already recorded take (for example, recording only the notes at the first take, and then knob automation... Or, with a drum synth, recording first the kick/snare, and then the hats at the second reading of the looped zone)...
  • basic audio editing (trimming, cut, reverse...)
  • "end in source/length" in item properties
  • MIDI REMOTE CONTROL: This is a core feature request, so some detail follows: It would be great to have a pop-up MIDI remote control capability (with MIDI learn) linked off the FX Dialog that provides a) routing of the same cc#'s on different active inputs to different track destinations, b) The ability to also route a single controller's cc to multiple tracks, c) the ability to save remapped cc's as part of a given FX chain, d) the ability for for multiple FX chains to contribute to remote control mapping, e) inclusion of a checkbox in the FX dialog to toggle "pass/block" state of unchanged cc# from controller to the Soft Synths on that track and f) inclusion of a checkbox in preferences/audio/options to set the default value of the "pass/block" FX checkboxes just mentioned.
  • FASTER SETUP OF SOFT SYNTHS. One possible approach: Implement "All MIDI Inputs" under recording input channel. Automatically select the following upon instantiation of a soft synth on a track: a) "All MIDI INPUTS" as routing input, b) arm track, and c) turn on input monitoring.
  • "real" metronome - instead of just having a manually strechable loop, it would be better just to have a click that follows the bpm/time sig automatically ala samplitude or FLstudio.
  • Writing of markers / regions into rendered .wav files.

GUI / INTERFACE

  • Better fitting grid in tempo/bar mode. (for the moment, when we change from time to measure, the grid stays in "time" mode, so it is very confusing : it looks like non of the clips are synced !)
  • the ability to also group tracks included in a folder track in the mixer, (like it can be done on the column on the left part of the screen), in order to save space.
  • A more unique interface (no basic windows please ! I don't claim for big changes, but just something sobre, minmalisitic, with plain graphics that take no cpu charge : a custom font, more unique faders and icons for the "item grouping" section, the track resize cursors, the faders...).
  • having both bar and time visible : or from the grids, or in display next to the transport panel...
  • custom colors for each clip if the user want. I mean : a default color for clips (user definable, as it is already), but also the option to have the beats clips in orange, the bass clips in blue, etc.... Even if folder tracks can help to organize when you have to handle a large amount of files, custom colors are a nice gadget.
  • a navigation option to play only the end of a file (for example). Useful for long takes where you don't want to bother listening the first 2 minutes to check if it is the good file...
  • closing/re-opening EFX chain window : it would be cool if by default, we don't see the first plugin in the chain, but the last opened one.
  • a "e" icon on the main screen for "editing the clip" (may it be midi or audio), instead of the "you-need-your-two-hands" keyboard shortcut (crtl+alt+e]...
  • it would be nice, if (as we can drag & drog single efx anywhere we want), we could also group the efx chain (like we can group clips) to drag&drop a whole efx chain in another track (i believe we already can do this in saving, and then reopening the chain in another track, but drag&drop is more fun & quick) !
  • I also would like to be able to hide unwanted plugins from the list using a simple right-click (i have directX codeecs showing, and also some efx installed as VST AND Dx i do not need to see twice).
  • dockable midi editor and cpu performance meter, just like media explorer or mixer.
  • Spacebar Passthrough when the main window is out of focus, the space bar no longer enables play... it would be nice to have a global start/stop no matter what window is in focus.
  • different double click settings for file type it would be nice if different file types had different double click settings... midi file - open in editor, wave file, loop selection.

FEATURES

  • loop recording (for audio & midi), and more recordings modes (as asked on some threads).
  • Custom versions (like Mutools did CMusic for Computer Magazine)
  • auto-stretch of audio clips when changing tempo.
  • efx on a single clip in a track : More than just having efx on a whole track, but the ability to have clip-related effects... (like in Tracktion).
  • a backup file for easy recovery in case of project crashing, and maybe a debug mode/ error report.
  • MIDI : Maybe midi editing tools ? (but it already works fine as it is in version 0,951...
  • MIDI : Midi cc assignement for every vst/vsti (some kind of a midi learn feature for the vst that do not havethis on the gui...) and / or the ability to assign an envelope curve to a controller knob/fader, and record that automation on the fly (even required for volume/pan envelopes on audio).
  • MIDI : pattern cloning variations : The ability to take a midi clip in a track, put it in another track, edit it, and then the editor would ask if we want to modify it, or clone the original to apply the modifications only on the second copied clip : the first one, on another track should remain intact. So we could make easy & quick variations ofmidi patterns.
  • Better loop handling (audio & midi), better stability...
  • a "paste insert" feature : in order to insert (instead of replacing or "putting above") the copied data to the clipboard.
  • when recording : it would be nice to be able to have more features when the recording is over, and that a dialogue windows pops up to prompt us if we want to save or not the recorded data : pre-listen the take (audio or midi), to see if it is good or if a mistake (in the routing options, in clipping) has been done and so if we should better delete from disk, and also it would be fine to have the option to rename it.
  • some shortcuts are alright, but i find the [ctrl+alt+e] to edit the take a bit boring, so an icon would make only one mouseclick to edit the take.
  • in the mixer line, being able (as in tracks mixer row on the left), to close folder tracks to save space. Sometimes, Folder tracks are used as submixers, so in most cases, we do not need to see sub-tracks. Clicking on the folder icon woud make it appear again.
  • in the midi editor : better visible bar indicator (the bar number could be written above, as in the main screen, and the green color hurt the eyes combined to thin orange & red lines...) ;
    • It would also be useful to have a "navigation tool", in order not to have the obligation to hear the full midi clip each time, but place a cursor from where we want the lecture to start.
  • in the media explorer, it would be nice to be able to use the "arrow" from the keyboard to browse sounds (up/down), like we can do in many explorers (Xniview, Windows media explorer...), instead of using the mouse.
    • Actually, you can use the cursor keys IF the media explorer window is undocked.
  • being able to have more than one audio editor in the preferences folder. (one by default is already good)
  • add a media explorer type feature for Markers - so you can see a list of Markers and jump to them by double-clicking on one of the Markers in the list
  • automatic search of lost files when opening a project. For now, it must be manual, and in case of huge HD with many folders/files, it can be quite penible...
  • about REAROUTE : synchro start/stort, tempo-synced from one application to the other "rearouted" one. And the ability to route midi signal like audio does...
  • being able to record automation for volume & pan envelopes from an external midi controller...
  • .. and also a Midi Learn feature to assign external control to any VST or VSTi (and also to Track enveloppes).
  • a more "automatic" way to bounce multiple clips & tracks into a single new track... (not the right-clicking "apply efx to new take", nor "render...", nor the "consolidate" option, but a feature that would bounce many selected clips in the looped region into one single file in a new track...
  • being able to relocate a lost plugin, or propose another replacement one, when a plugin is not found.
  • Freezing - rendering a track, remembering the presets of the fx of that track, removing and/or disabling them, and being able to restore the original track at will (see samplitudes freeze)
  • Time Signature Changes/markers - able to insert markers that change the visual representation of beats/bars -- in order for a more organized workflow when using multi time sigs.
  • Fast Vsti/Controller Connection should be able to select a vsti, and automatically have a midi input selected, and monitoring on.
  • Midi activity indication LED Just a little light in the corner that blinks when midi is recieved
  • controller lane midi CC and vsti parameter tweaking (per pattern)
  • BWF timestamps on waves -- more details on these past 6 requests here: [1]
