Actions which change the display of Reaper's MIDI editors.

View : Toggle grid (Cmd ID 1017)

Section: MIDI Editor

Toggles visibility of the vertical grid lines. See also: MIDI Editor grid actions

Options: Toggle window docking (Cmd ID 40018)

Sections: MIDI Editor, MIDI Event List

The MIDI editor window can be shown as a tab in Reaper's docker or be a floating window. This action toggles it to and fro.

Mode: Piano Roll (Cmd ID 40042)

Sections: MIDI Editor, MIDI Event List

Switches to the common MIDI editor view with those fancy piano keys on the left hand side.

Mode: Drum Map (Cmd ID 40043)

Sections: MIDI Editor, MIDI Event List

This is called "Mode: Named notes" in the View menu. It turns the Piano keys on the left side of the MIDI editor into equal rectangles which can be filled with user-friendly names either by the user or automatically by plugins which support it.
Reaper will automatically switch to this mode when View: Hide unused note rows (Cmd ID 40453) or View: Hide unused and unnamed note rows (Cmd ID 40454) are triggered in Piano Roll mode.

View: Show events as rectangles (normal mode) (Cmd ID 40449)

Sections: MIDI Editor, MIDI Inline Editor

The common way to display note events in a piano roll editor. Rectangles that visualize position and length of each note.

View: Show events as diamonds (drum mode) (Cmd ID 40450)

Sections: MIDI Editor, MIDI Inline Editor

When editing MIDI drum material, most often you don't need to see the note lengths (Note Off positions). This view shows them as diamonds right where the event occurs, disregarding where the Note Off event is.

View: Show events as triangles (drum mode) (Cmd ID 40448)

Sections: MIDI Editor, MIDI Inline Editor

When editing MIDI drum material, most often you don't need to see the note lengths (Note Off positions). This view shows them as diamonds right where the event occurs, disregarding where the Note Off event is.
