Actions which change Reaper's MIDI editing behavior

View: Toggle snapping (Cmd ID 1014)

Section: MIDI Editor

Toggles whether MIDI events will snap to the grid when editing.

Options: Toggle move edit cursor when clicking note area (Cmd ID 40684)

Section: MIDI Editor

Toggles whether clicking the note area will move the edit cursor to the mouse cursor.

CC lanes: right mouse drag marquee selects events (alt toggles) (Cmd ID 40665)

Section: MIDI Editor

Toggles the preference setting in Preferences -> Media -> MIDI: "Alt+right mouse drag marquee selects CC events, right mouse drag deletes" on and off.

Basically with this action you can toggle whether right mouse drag (without modifier) in a CC lane selects or deletes CC events. Sort of a tool switch, as opposed to the on-the-fly toggle via ALT modifier, which toggles back when you release the ALT key.

Options: Preview notes on add/edit (Cmd ID 40041)

Sections: MIDI Editor, Inline Editor

Toggles whether notes will sound when inserted or edited with the mouse.

Options: Drawing or selecting a note sets the new note length (Cmd ID 40479)

Sections: MIDI Editor, Inline Editor

Toggles whether drawing / changing the length / selecting a note with the left mouse button (not with marquee or via actions) will determine the length of newly inserted notes. The new length will be displayed in the field labeled "Notes" at the bottom of the MIDI piano roll view.

Options: Toggle single click to add notes mode (Cmd ID 40054)

Sections: MIDI Editor, Inline Editor

Toggles between single or double-click to add and delete notes.

Options: Toggle single click to select CC events (Cmd ID 40730)

Sections: MIDI Editor, Inline Editor

Toggles whether or not a single click on a CC event will select that event.

Options: Toggle move CC events with notes (Cmd ID 40472)

Sections: MIDI Editor, Inline Editor, (MIDI Event List)

Reaper can select CC events that occur during the playtime of selected notes and move them in sync with the notes. This action switches that feature on and off.

Options: Correct overlapping notes while editing (Cmd ID 40681)

Sections: MIDI Editor, Event List

If two notes of the same pitch overlap, so that the end of the first note is after the start of the second note, this can lead to notes stop sounding at an unexpected time. Reaper can automatically shorten the first note to remove the overlapping portion while you edit. This action switches that feature on and off.
Related action: Correct overlapping notes (Cmd ID 40659).
