Default seperate midi editor colouring...

as seen here

http://www.cockos.com/forum/showthread.php?p=44296

i cannot make a theme that has independant midi editor colours from the main track view, and really, overall, the midi editor suffers from 1990's cubase syndrome...

could we get seperate midi colouring, perhaps a gradient option, somethign that makes it look a bit more sexy as options?

I'd love to be able to have theme-able note bricks (if done smart to not lose the awesome speed of 1.74, and maybe a skin-able piano keyboard.

Plus colors based on item color or velocity.
Colors would be important, when editing multiple items and some notes would cover the other (completely or partially). Then some kind of semitransparent display would be very handy.

But I like the current piano roll interface a lot (Radar Akoustic theme !).

one major problem with the themes we have is that all the midi notes are coloured the same and theres no boundary!

for instance:

heres the way i set up Akoustic's induction:

looks OK but not great..

but heres the way it is by default:

wow, just a sea of possible notation!

could be better.

Yeah, I agree, not even from the standpoint of looking "sexy" although sexy is good, but something about being able to see things right... It seems to cut down on brain CPU cycles, when it has to do less video to OCR processing, and leaves that for more "weird harmony, crazy off time signature, riff writing insanity!"

How about note-pitch color mode? It's helpful when you are viewing multiple midi tracks at once and want to make sure all your tracks are playing the same chords. This is a feature in Cubase.
