Great writeup. One minor clarification:
As an admin you can change the BPI, BPM and topic easily while logged in to the client:
Example:
For BPI: /bpi 16
for BPM: /bpm 160
for the topic: /topic Welcome to my new server!
This info (admin commands in the client) is not in the wiki, someone with access should add it.
